As the seasons change at Langton Hall, we’ve been looking back on another wonderful summer — and, in particular, two very special celebrations that perfectly demonstrate just how differently you can party at the Hall...
First came a fabulous 40th birthday for Becky Owen, a long-time friend and supporter of Langton Hall, followed more recently by a very special birthday weekend for Nadiya Bychkova, star of Strictly Come Dancing, who brought a little Strictly sparkle to Yorkshire.
One of the things that makes Langton Hall so special for a celebration is that it doesn’t have to feel like a conventional hotel or event venue. For the weekend, the Hall becomes your home. For the heart of your celebration, the South Wing sleeps up to 13 guests and gives you the grand entertaining spaces of the Hall, including the magnificent dining room.
From there, additional accommodation can be added as required, allowing celebrations for anything from a small group of close friends and family right through to 56 overnight guests when the estate is taken at full capacity. We can then arrange the dining room around your celebration and guest numbers, whether you are planning an intimate candlelit dinner or bringing everyone together around one spectacular table. And, perhaps most importantly, you have the freedom to make the weekend completely your own.
Becky’s fabulous 40th showed exactly what happens when you turn the volume up at Langton Hall. The celebrations began with a larger guest list and a relaxed party atmosphere, with Mexican food served from a food truck in the South Wing Rose Garden before everyone headed inside. Later, DJ Chris took to the decks, filling the South Wing and keeping the party going late into the evening. But one of the joys of making Langton Hall your home for an entire weekend is that every day doesn’t have to follow the same formula. After the scale and energy of the main event, Becky changed the pace completely for the second evening, bringing everyone together for a much smaller and more intimate dinner party.
For Nadiya’s birthday, the atmosphere was completely different. This was an intimate weekend centred around friends, family and children, making use of the Hall as somewhere everyone could spend time together rather than simply arriving for an event and leaving again afterwards. For the main celebration, the Grand Dining Room was transformed with candlelight, champagne and oysters, with Vanessa playing the piano in the background as guests gathered for dinner. A magician entertained guests of all ages, while the beautiful table setting and surroundings gave the evening a sense of occasion without losing the relaxed feeling of a private house party. And with Nadiya in the building, there was really only one way the evening could finish... Dancing, of course.
There is no fixed formula for celebrating at Langton Hall. Bring a DJ. Bring a chef. Put a food truck in the garden. Fill the dining room with candles. Arrange live music around the piano. Bring in entertainers for the children. Have cocktails in the drawing room and dance until late. Or do all of the above.
